Sexism is bliss

Last year I took a class called Philosophy of Gender. May sound a bit like nonsense, but I learned a lot in this class. Going into it, I found my opinions differed substantially from those of the professor and other philosophy students. "These ugly virgins are over-concerning themselves here," I thought, sparing no haughtiness. Yet by the end, I had indeed turned into a miserable feminist.

The term paper that turned me feminist is on sexuality and objectification in the service industry. This is a subject that I as a bartender felt I could easily exploit into turning out some conclusion that the professor would find coincided well with the class material. To my surprise, my own research opened my eyes so that my opinions actually began to change to coincide with the class material.

blindness in sight

This film project is a depiction of Elkin's chapter on Blindness in his book The Object Stares Back. In the chapter, Elkins explains how blindness is intertwined with everyday vision. Of all the things we see, blindness is the counterpart of what we actually retain in our memory.

My team and I made this film for a class called Experimental Film, FMA 4001 at LSU. The class is designed to explore filmmaking in the avant-garde genre.

The film was shot in 1080p. So if you're not struggling with your internet connection, enjoy viewing it as such.

Please Vote on Oct 22.

I produced a commercial for Donald Hodge, who is running for Commissioner for the La. Department of Insurance in the upcoming election. Recognize the voiceover at the end?

News Radio

I'm currently interning for Baton Rouge's NPR station, WRKF 89.3-FM. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience, because I've had the chance to do my own interviews, news spots, and features--and I've learned a lot. I've gathered some clips here for a sample of my experience with voice work, sound editing, and journalistic writing.

Some stories may initially seem out-of-context, since most of these sound clips are lacking the intro that aired with them on the radio.

Station Sports Bar 9

This was my first headlining set. I fell a little short on time, and had to work a fairly small room. But it was not at all a bad experience. My mobile-ophile lawyer took this video on his Blackberry and was interrupted by a phone call, so it's in two parts.

Bones Are the Same Color

I made a documentary short on skin-tone discrimination within African-American culture. The film features a series of interviews explaining the role of such discrimination in Black society.
